How did I do it?
Hawaii is heaven on earth for many, and I was one who believed it with all my heart.
I had a dream.
Simple as that.
The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to be there.
It made me happy to think about basking in the sun and listening to the waves lapping at the shore.
I learned long ago that in order to manifest a dream that I had to be in alignment with my higher self, my Godself.
I traveled far to learn that lessen and I developed a way of recognizing how God/Goddess speaks to me.
I had to learn how listen to that inner voice inside me.
It may be the same as others or it may not, but you have to learn how to listen to the inner voice that is inside you.
Inside all of us.
I have been on a journey my whole life, that journey is the quest to find my true self.
Sometimes that journey includes others and sometimes it means walking alone.
My Hawaii dream happened when I was walking hand in hand with an Earthly Angel.
I went to her one day and asked if she had any direction on where our life was heading.
Family members had recently let us know that our life style made them uncomfortable and they ask us to leave.
We decided to go on a vision quest to find some answers.
Salt Lake seemed to be calling out to us and so we called friends and ask if we could spend some time with them.
Thanksgiving was over and it was nearing Christmas time when we arrived.
We chopped and stacked wood, hung Christmas lights and helped clean up the garden.
Each day before the work started we would take some time alone to pray and seek the answers that we needed.
I noticed one day that there were some paintings sitting on the floor facing the wall, I turned them around and discovered they were all pictures of Hawaii, our friends had lived in Hawaii and they hadn’t yet found a place to hang the pictures.
A few days later we were invited to a Christmas concert at the Tabernacle in downtown Salt Lake City, we tried to decline but our friends insisted. We arrived to find they had saved seats on the front row.
Anticipating a Christmas program, we were surprised to hear a Hawaiian chant coming from the stage. A woman dressed in a beautiful Hawaiian dress appeared and said Aloha, then she turned to the choir and the Christmas concert began.
I remember looking at my wife and seeing the same surprised look on her face as was on mine.
Later in the week as we were having our private time together, we felt a powerful presence enter the room. Both feeling this energy, we asked a question, “Who is there?”
The names of Pele and IZ immediately came to us. We knew it was time to head back home.
As we were driving down the road I ask a question, “So, where do you think we are supposed to move?”
Duh ... Hawaii.
Yeah I know it is obvious now but when you are in the middle of life you can’t always see the trees for the forest.
Hawaii felt right.
Hawaii made sense.
Hawaii had given us a powerful invitation.
We had seen Hawaii’s road signs.
Now, how to make it happen?
I began downloading Hawaiian music, I ordered some travel guide books, I got a map.
I put out the word that I wanted to live in Hawaii, not only that, but that I wanted to be a caretaker of a Hawaiian property so I would not have to pay for the experience out of my own pocket.
It seemed a little extreme but hey, it was my dream and why not?
One of my clients stopped me one day and asked if I was interested in buying a sea kayak, they had a job for me and wondered if I would like to trade work for the kayak. I asked if they had known I was wanting to move to Hawaii.
Their answer was no.
Hum, another road sign pointing to Hawaii.
Several weeks later after finishing the job I got a call from these same people mentioning that they had a friend who might be looking for a caretaker in Hawaii.
She agreed to connect us.
Our meeting was a success but there were two more couples ahead of us, if things changed she would call.
A few weeks passed and the phone rang. One of the couples had conflicts and dropped out.
My thoughts raced and I hoped ...
I decided to start checking the price of airline tickets, I watched as the prices rose and fell each day.
Then one day the phone rang again ... Would you be able to meet us on July 2nd in Kona?
The last couple had dropped out and we were told that we would be caretakers of a small coffee farm in Holualoa, Hawaii with an open ended agreement.
My job would be to write the checks for the coffee pickers and the gardener, feed the cat, pick up any friends who might want to visit from the airport and look after the general well being of the farm.
My dream of living in Hawaii came to fruition.
I have seen proof of the power of positive thinking in my own life.
Many times over.
There is nothing that can’t be accomplished if you are in alignment with God and you are paying attention to the signs that life gives.
These are the clues that I have found to be most helpful:
Listen to the voice of your own guidance.
Pay attention to Synchronicity.
Write down and review your dream each day.
Believe with all your heart.
Imagine yourself in the middle of your dream and the way that it makes you feel.
Focus on that feeling, that feeling is the real power behind your dream.
Stay in gratitude.
Be flexible.
... and that, is the way I do it.
